Jorge Garcia from JMDR Editorial Advisory Board to attend 10th Global Harmonisation Task Force Conference

London, 15 June 2006 -- Jorge Garcia, member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Medical Device Regulation (JMDR), will attend the 10th Global Harmonisation Task Force (GHTF) Conference in Luebeck, Germany from 28-30 June. Dr Garcia is the chair of GHTF's Study Group 2 and will contribute two presentations at the three-day conference. On Wednesday 28 June 2006, he will participate in the workshop on "Post-production surveillance available tools and latest developments"; on Friday 30 June 2006 he will make a presentation on vigilance-related issues. Dr Garcia joined the JMDR's Editorial Advisory Board in 2004.

About Dr Jorge Garcia

Dr Garcia joined the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) as an incident report investigator in 1995. Since then he has also contributed to a number of projects (notably on the re-use of single-use devices), evaluations, policies, standards development and other TGA activities. Dr Garcia currently manages IRIS, TGA's Medical Device Incident Report Investigation Scheme, as well as the TGA's Medical Devices Laboratory Program in general.

Dr Garcia is a member of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute, Treasurer of the Australian Society for Biomaterials, and TGA's representative at the Global Harmonisation Task Force's Study Group for the Harmonisation of Vigilance and Surveillance Systems.
